Applied Anatomy for Coaches

Applied Anatomy for Coaches

Available Now

Skeletal and muscular systems, joints, movement planes, agonist/antagonist/synergist concepts, posture basics, common movement patterns, anatomy for exercise selection.

Who this course is for

Personal trainers and coaches who want a working, exercise-selection-focused understanding of anatomy — not a medical or physiotherapy-level anatomy course.

What you'll learn

  • Describe the skeletal and muscular systems in terms relevant to coaching movement.
  • Identify joint types, joint actions and planes of motion, and use this vocabulary accurately.
  • Explain agonist, antagonist and synergist/stabilizer roles in common exercises.
  • Recognise common postural patterns and address them appropriately through programming, without over-medicalising normal variation.
  • Apply the six fundamental movement patterns to build balanced programmes.
  • Select and substitute exercises based on joint and muscle function.
  • Recognise when an anatomical or joint concern is outside scope and requires referral.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to complete Personal Training Foundations first?

It's recommended but not required. This course assumes a basic coaching foundation (screening, goal-setting, programming basics) and builds specifically on the anatomy needed to apply those skills more precisely — completing Personal Training Foundations first will make some sections click faster, but it is not a strict prerequisite.

Is this a medical or physiotherapy-level anatomy course?

No. This course teaches anatomy at exactly the depth a personal trainer needs for programming, exercise selection, and communication — not the clinical depth required for diagnosis or treatment. Where a topic moves into medical territory, the course is explicit about that boundary and when to refer to a qualified professional instead.

How long does the course take to complete?

Most learners complete it in around 15 hours of study across the 8 modules, at your own pace, with lifetime access to the content, manual, and quizzes for the duration of your enrolment.

How is the course assessed?

Each module has its own short quiz. The course concludes with a final certification exam combining multiple-choice, multiple-answer, scenario, short-answer, and case-study questions, plus a practical assignment — an anatomical exercise substitution plan — marked personally by Coach Freddy against a published rubric.

What happens if I fail the final exam?

You get one free retake at no extra cost. If you don't pass on the second attempt, you'll need Coach Freddy's approval before trying again, to make sure further attempts reflect genuine additional preparation.

Will I receive a certificate?

Yes. Once you pass the final exam and your practical assignment is marked satisfactory, Coach Freddy issues a personalised, watermarked PDF certificate with your name and a unique certificate number, downloadable from your Academy dashboard.

Does this course cover posture correction and 'corrective exercise'?

It covers posture honestly, from an evidence-informed perspective — you'll learn why most common postural patterns are normal variation rather than problems requiring aggressive correction, and the sensible, balanced-training response for when a genuine concern does exist. If you're expecting a specialised 'corrective exercise' certification with elaborate named protocols, this course takes a more evidence-grounded, general-training-based approach instead.

Do I get a downloadable manual, or is everything only online?

Both. All content is available online through the lesson viewer, and you can also download a full branded course manual covering the entire syllabus as a PDF for offline study or as a permanent reference.
